Electrostatic interaction of a pointlike charge with a wormhole
نویسنده
چکیده
A pointlike static (or quasistatically moving) electric charge q is considered in the spacetime which is a wormhole connecting two otherwise Minkowskian spaces. The electrostatic force acting on the charge is found to be a sum of two terms. One of them is uniquely determined by the value of q and the geometry of the wormhole. The other has the Coulomb form and is proportional to a freely specifiable parameter (the “charge of the wormhole”). These terms are interpreted, respectively, as the self-force and the force exerted on the charge by the wormhole. The self-force is found explicitly in the limit of vanishing throat length. The result differs from that obtained recently by Khusnutdinov and Bakhmatov. PACS numbers: 04.20.Gz, 03.50.De

Complementarity in Wormhole Chromodynamics ⋆
The electric charge of a wormhole mouth and the magnetic flux “linked” by the wormhole are non-commuting observables, and so cannot be simultaneously diagonalized. We use this observation to resolve some puzzles in wormhole electrodynamics and chromodynamics. Specifically, we analyze the color electric field that results when a colored object traverses a wormhole, and we discuss the measurement...

Regarding the static form of Maxwell’s equations in wormhole background geometry, we obtain a generalised form of Laplace’s equation. Because of peculiar geometry of the throat, lines of force that enter the wormhole at one mouth and emerge from the other, initially converge and then diverge. So, for a remote observer the wormhole can act as a charge distribution that modifies the potential, ...

The idea that electromagnetic charge may be a manifestation of the topology of space has a very long history [Whe, WM, Sor]. The basic configuration considered by Wheeler and Misner was a space that contained a handle-like region, often called a wormhole. This space is traversed by sourceless electric lines of force that enter the wormhole radially through one mouth and exit through the other o...

In this paper, scattering of a plane and monochromatic electromagnetic wave from a nano-wire is simulated using surface integral equations. First, integral equationsgoverning unknown fields on the surface is obtained based on Stratton-Cho surface integral equations. Then, the interaction of the wave with a non-plasmonic as well as a palsmonic nano-wire is considered. It is shown that in scatter...
متن کاملElectrostatic analysis of the charged surface in a solution via the finite element method: The Poisson-Boltzmann theory
Electrostatic potential as well as the local volume charge density are computed for a macromolecule by solving the Poisson-Boltzmann equation (PBE) using the finite element method (FEM). As a verification, our numerical results for a one dimensional PBE, which corresponds to an infinite-length macromolecule, are compared with the existing analytical solution and good agreement is found. As a ma...
